It’s easy to feel flooded as a novice writer when you’re gazing at an empty page, gaping where to begin. The excellent thing is that there are numerous sites where you can obtain writing guidance and techniques that may help you develop your talents and create confidence in yourself.
Writing is a never-ending process. You constantly involve yourself. As a writer myself, I will share with you some advice that would be helpful in your writing journey.
When you read about the success of outstanding writers whose works have sold millions of copies, you might assume that writing is a rewarding job. The reality is that almost a million novels are published each year, but only a handful become million-copy bestsellers. The majority of authors struggle to sell even a few hundred volumes. Unless you are really successful, there is little money to be made in writing.
Writing is not as spontaneous as you believe. Inspiration plays a lesser role than perspiration. Every day, I am compelled to write. I write most often in the morning when my mind is clear. You should create a timetable and adhere to it as closely as possible.
Oftentimes, I am not in the mood to write. However, after compelling myself to write for a few minutes, my mood improves, and I fall into the creative flow. You arrive into a suitable frame of consciousness while you’re doing what you enjoy.
I extensively read because I think that reading provides nourishment for the mind. When you read good literature, you gain valuable insights. You must read a range of literature, some of which may not be directly relevant to your writing topic. This assists you in developing broader and deeper concepts for your thinking. Every day, spend a few hours reading outstanding literature.
If you are writing to become a top-selling book and achieve celebrity, you may find that you are unable to create your finest work. When you prioritize the reader’s taste or the commercial viability of your works, your creativity suffers. You’d be irritated if people didn’t enjoy your work or didn’t purchase your books.
If you write only for your own pleasure, you immediately experience the delight of writing. You do not have high expectations of your audience. If readers accept your writing, this is an added benefit that multiplies your delight.
When you produce innovative work, publishers frequently struggle to appreciate it because it is distinctive and different. All great authors have several rejections prior to their works being published.
Do not get discouraged by setbacks. Continue writing and honing your craft.
